Address to AAPS: Surgeons Simplifying Access to Quality Care

A patient from Oregon, robot from Colorado, and surgeon from Florida met in Trinidad. It changed access to care in America.

Surgeo offers flat-fee surgery packages led by highly qualified, peer credentialed surgeons. It represents their collaborative effort to simplify access to quality care. Surgeo's surgeons think through and define criteria designed to increase the chances for a quality outcome. As a group, the Surgeo community helps to broaden the conversation about access to and quality of health care.

Surgeo was born from its founder's efforts to help a cancer patient with a serious probem with access. Those efforts led later to bundled surgery for self-pay individuals and for third-party payers, including Blue Cross. On January 30, 2016, he presented this history at the 23rd Thrive, Not Just Survive workshop of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons in Orlando, Florida.
